3 1/2 Half Month old German Shepherd Puppy in Training

German Shepherd Puppy-Meet Nora

Three and a half-month-old German Shepherd puppy in training. Today I like to share a quick little video with a new GSD puppy that I’m training with the owners.  You always hear me say attention is the most important part of teaching your dog anything-is to have their attention. If you are training a puppy this a great video for you. Lets’ get started on how to teach this training exercise with a puppy.

Practice this exercise

When you are just getting started with a new puppy, you want to start by holding the leash in the right hand and having food in your left hand down in front of the nose of your puppy. We start by taking three to four steps with our puppy and saying their name with the command, and when you see the puppy starts to look at you, stop and reward them. This will teach the puppy how to build eye contact with you.

Every time you go out to work with your puppy, you want to repeat the lesson by starting off with the same way you did with the first lesson, by walking three to four steps and start turning right and keep the puppy engaged with you by giving them a food reward along with using their name, just like you see the owner doing in this video. You will start to get the hang of things after you have practiced a few times. It may seem hard in the beginning, but if you want to learn how to train your pup like this you’ll need to practice.

This is the first video with Nora. I will be making more videos with her and the owner to share how we are advancing her training with my teaching and explaining to the owners what to do. You will hear me explain in the videos what we are teaching her so you guys can learn too. So please check back if you want to get updates.

I love to hear from you in the comments below.

I read and answer all comments.

Thanks, Dennis.
